Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves an electronic derma roller that pricks the skin using very small needles. At Avani Derm Spa, we offer microneedling in St. Louis for quality skin rejuvenation.
This treatment enhances the natural production of collagen and elastin in the body. When these two proteins are present at their optimal levels, they help heal areas of your skin. This makes the overall appearance of a treated area look younger, smoother, and tighter. There is no downtime necessary after treatment.

The number of procedures needed for desired results will depend on the areas you are having treated and the current state of the skin in the areas. As with any cosmetic procedure, results with microneedling vary from person to person.
The most common treatment plans require 3-6 sessions, but more may be needed if you are planning to treat deep scars or stretch marks. It’s also important to note that the time between each visit is typically 4 weeks but is different for each individual.

You will have a pre-treatment consultation with your administering medical professional, where they will come up with a treatment plan and go over any pre-procedure instructions.
They will also give you post-treatment care directions to ensure proper healing. For example, avoid using harsh chemicals, makeup, or cleansers on the skin. Remember that your skin is regenerating after a microneedling treatment. Therefore, you will want to be gentle on your skin. Stay hydrated and out of the sun, avoid tanning beds, and avoid vigorous activities such as exercise.
An appointment typically lasts about an hour, with pre-screening and prep time included. The microneedling itself is usually only 30-45 minutes long.
The tool mimics a pen, with the end containing small needles that will gently puncture the skin. The procedure is essentially painless, with only mild discomfort reported in highly sensitive areas such as the upper lip.
It is normal for your skin to feel warm or tight and have a red or pink tint as a result of the mild irritation caused by the treatment.
The cost of microneedling procedures varies depending on the area being treated, as well as the number of expected sessions in your treatment plan. Some areas of the skin can be quite low in price, making the treatment very desirable.
