Rejuvenate your skin and improve texture with our professional microneedling treatments for a smoother, more radiant complexion.

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves an electronic derma roller that pricks the skin using very small needles.
At Avani Derm Spa, we offer microneedling in St. Louis for quality skin rejuvenation.
This treatment enhances the natural production of collagen and elastin in the body. When these two proteins are present at their optimal levels, they help heal areas of your skin. This makes the overall appearance of a treated area look younger, smoother, and tighter. There is no downtime necessary after treatment.

One of the greatest parts of microneedling is its versatility. Because it's a minimally invasive procedure that doesn't rely on thermal energy (heat), it's safe for almost all skin types, including darker skin tones. Patients with darker skin often face a higher risk of hyperpigmentation with lasers, making microneedling an excellent, safe alternative for skin rejuvenation.
You are likely a good microneedling candidate if you wish to improve:
Certain conditions may require you to wait or avoid microneedling. Patients with active acne (pustules), open wounds, active skin infections, or a weakened immune system should postpone treatment. During your microneedling consultation at our St. Louis office, we will review your medical history to ensure this is the right treatment for you.

Medical microneedling treatments have an extensive list of benefits.
Microneedling in St. Louis can help with a variety of common skin concerns and are a great option for almost all skin types and conditions. In addition to treating existing skin concerns, microneedling is a great anti-aging preventative treatment.
Commonly treated conditions include:
The number of procedures needed for desired results will depend on the areas you are having treated and the current state of the skin in the areas.
As with any cosmetic procedure, microneedling results vary from person to person.
The most common treatment plans require 3-6 sessions, but more may be needed if you are planning to treat deep scars or stretch marks. It’s also important to note that the time between each visit is typically 4 weeks but is different for each individual.
At that point, we recommend one treatment per quarter, to continue to build and improve the skin. St. Louis microneedling patients who follow the one-per-quarter maintenance schedule report dramatic skin improvement over time.
“This is the only place I trust. I can’t say enough about the quality of the staff, the environment and the wonderful results. I’ve been going there for years. So grateful to have this as a resource. I live in a rural area half of the year so I know what it’s like not to have services available like this!”

You will have a pre-treatment microneedling consultation with your administering medical professional, where they will come up with a treatment plan and go over any pre-procedure instructions.
They will also give you post-treatment care directions to ensure proper healing. For example, avoid using harsh chemicals, makeup, or cleansers on the skin. Remember that your skin is regenerating after a microneedling treatment. Therefore, you will want to be gentle on your skin. Stay hydrated and out of the sun, avoid tanning beds, and avoid vigorous activities such as exercise.
An appointment typically lasts about an hour, with pre-screening and prep time included.
The microneedling itself is usually only 30-45 minutes long. The tool mimics a pen, with the end containing small needles that will gently puncture the skin. The procedure is essentially painless, with only mild discomfort reported in highly sensitive areas such as the upper lip. It is normal for your skin to feel warm or tight and have a red or pink tint as a result of the mild irritation caused by the treatment.

Microneedling is a therapeutic treatment in which an electric pen device delivers tiny needle pricks to the skin. This process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response. Microneedling aims to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars and correct hyperpigmentation and melasma by stimulating collagen and other natural growth factors. This treatment is great for the maintenance of skin’s texture, tone, and strength.

Cosmetic Microneedling is a superficial level of needling designed to brighten the skin and improve the penetration of the product. This treatment has almost no downtime and is great for the maintenance of the skin’s texture, tone, and strength.
While many patients notice an immediate "glow" and improvement in skin tone shortly after their first treatment session, microneedling results refine over time. The process relies on collagen induction, the body's natural production of new collagen and elastin, which takes time to build.
To maintain these results, most St. Louis Microneedling patients benefit from a maintenance plan that may include quarterly sessions or a good homecare regimen using medical-grade skin care products.
At Avani Derm Spa, we offer microneedling in St. Louis, along with a number of other quality treatment options.

Most people find the treatment very tolerable. We apply a high-strength topical anesthesia (numbing cream) about 30 to 45 minutes before we perform microneedling. This significantly reduces any discomfort you may feel. The microneedling device uses ultra-thin needles that enter the skin vertically; while you may feel light pressure or a scratching sensation, it is rarely described as painful.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive option with relatively low downtime. Immediately after the procedure, the treated area will look red and feel warm, similar to a moderate sunburn. This typically subsides within a few hours to 24 hours. You may experience some dryness or flaking for a few days. We recommend you wait at least 24 hours to wear makeup or apply makeup to prevent clogging the fresh micro-channels.
Yes. Emerging studies indicate that microneedling can be an effective therapy for androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss). The tiny needles stimulate blood flow to the follicles and can enhance the absorption of topical hair growth medications, potentially leading to improved hair density.
Absolutely, combining therapies can often lead to more noticeable results over time. For example, adding Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to your session delivers growth factors directly into the tiny holes created by the needles, accelerating healing and boosting collagen production. We can also alternate microneedling with chemical peels to address surface pigmentation and uneven skin tone more aggressively.
Yes, but patience is key. To effectively treat acne scars, especially deep ice-pick or boxcar scars, the microneedling technique must be performed at a medical depth. This breaks up the fibrous bands of scar tissue and stimulates the skin to fill in the depressions with new collagen. Achieving the desired results for scarring typically requires a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.
